Show a membership card in LINE from Shopify, no LINE mini app required

Introduction

For stores that already use a LINE Official Account, being able to do everything in LINE — not just messages and coupons but showing a membership card as well — makes the in-store experience dramatically better. With StoreCRM's LINE barcode feature, customers open their membership barcode in LINE and present it straight at the till. No paper card, no separate app to launch, so both the conversation and the checkout go more smoothly.

The feature does more than display a barcode. Customers who have linked their LINE account see their membership code, while customers who have not are pointed to your store's login page. There is also a route back to the barcode after linking, which makes it a useful way to drive signups and LINE connections.

Setting up LINE integration and creating the LIFF app

Confirm that LINE integration is already set up

To use StoreCRM's LINE barcode feature, LINE integration must already be configured.

For details of StoreCRM's LINE settings, see the page below.

How to connect Shopify with a LINE Official Account

Creating the LIFF app

To use the LINE barcode feature, you need to create a LIFF app.

Select the [LINE Login channel] you created when you set up LINE integration.

Select the [LIFF] tab.

Select [Add].

Enter a [LIFF app name]. Any name will do. [Size] controls how much of the screen the membership card occupies; unless you have a preference, we recommend Tall, so that the barcode scans easily.

In StoreCRM, go to [Settings] > [LINE settings] > [LINE Login channel settings (for integration)] and copy the [LIFF Endpoint URL] you find there. Leave that screen open — you will need it again shortly.

Paste the value into the [Endpoint URL] field on the LIFF app creation screen.

Tick openid and profile under [Scope].
[Add friend option] can be whatever you like.
If you have no particular preference, set it to [On (Normal)].

Then press [Add] to create the LIFF app.

The app appears in the LIFF app list; copy its [LIFF ID].

Back in StoreCRM, paste it into the [LIFF ID] field under [Settings] > [LINE settings] > [LINE Login channel settings (for integration)].

Remember to press [Save] afterwards.

That completes the LIFF setup. Next we will add the membership card to the rich menu.

Adding the membership card action to your rich menu

Now add the membership card action to the rich menu you created in StoreCRM. If you have not set up a rich menu yet, follow the article below first.

How to deliver a tabbed LINE rich menu from Shopify

The membership card is configured as an area action on the rich menu. Click the area where you want it.

Choose [Membership barcode] as the action type.

That is the rich menu side done. Remember to save.

At the bottom of [Settings] > [LINE settings] > [LINE membership card settings] you can customise how the card looks. You can add a logo and explanatory text, so design a card that fits your store.

Customising the design and copy of the LINE membership card

Once the LIFF app is configured, you can customise the card's appearance and wording under Settings > LINE settings > LINE membership card settings in StoreCRM.

"Membership card customisation" covers the following.

  • Logo image
  • Card title
  • Supporting text below the barcode
  • Background colour, text colour and supporting text colour
  • The message shown to customers who have not linked LINE
  • The label on the button that prompts them to link
  • The message and supporting text shown after linking
  • The label on the button that reopens the card
  • Background and text colours for the link and reopen buttons

The preview on the right shows the linked, unlinked and just-linked states. Matching the background and button colours to your brand makes the card feel like part of your store even inside LINE.

Customers who have not linked LINE see a message and a button prompting them to link instead of the card. Once they have signed up or logged in on your store and completed the link, the reopen button brings up the card.

After changing anything, press "Save" at the top or the bottom of the screen.

Showing easyPoints balances on the LINE membership card

If you use easyPoints, you can show point information on the card as well.

Open [Settings] > [LINE settings] > [LINE membership card settings], tick [Show point information] and save. The data currently comes from easyPoints.

With this enabled, a linked customer who opens their card sees the following below the barcode.

  • Current points
  • Point expiry date
  • Rank

The point information comes from the easyPoints data stored in StoreCRM. Only the values that exist for that customer — balance, expiry or rank — are shown. Fields with no value are omitted, and if none of them is set, the point information panel itself does not appear.

Balances are shown in a readable format such as "1,200P", and expiry dates are shown as dates.

This is independent of the barcode itself, so even if the point lookup fails, the barcode still appears.

Connecting Smaregi (Smapify), for Smaregi and Smapify users

If you use Smaregi and Smapify in your physical stores, you can use the Smaregi integration. It displays the Smaregi membership number as the barcode, and it also handles the case where the customer signed up on Shopify first.

Checking the membership card

Open the LINE account that receives your rich menu, confirm that the membership card displays correctly, and the setup is complete.
If the LINE account has not yet been linked to a Shopify account, a prompt to link appears instead; once linked, tapping again shows the card.

Summary

With the LINE membership card set up, customers present their card from an app they already use every day, and your staff can verify membership far more quickly. It creates a membership card people actually reach for. For any store looking to digitise its membership card and make more of LINE, it is an easy and genuinely practical feature to adopt.
