Omnisend's key features

The three features ecommerce stores use first are automation flows, sign-up forms and segments.

Automation flows

Build automations combining email, SMS and push with drag and drop

You can build standard ecommerce journeys such as welcome emails, abandoned cart reminders and post-purchase follow-ups from templates. Waits and conditional splits (for example, "is the cart value over $100?") are assembled with drag and drop, and a single flow can combine email, SMS and web push.

Sign-up forms

Grow your list with pop-ups and spin-to-win forms

You can build sign-up forms in many formats — pop-ups, landing pages, spin-to-win and more — from templates. You can also describe the form you want and have AI build one that matches your brand, and set display conditions such as exit intent.

Segments

Narrow down who to message using purchase and browsing data

You can narrow your audience based on purchase history, browsing behavior and email engagement. Segments update in real time, and if you describe a group in plain language — such as "frequent buyers" or "churn risks" — AI builds the conditions for you. You can also see where customers are in their lifecycle, from new sign-ups to loyal customers.

Other features

  • Campaigns: One-off sends using 250+ templates, with A/B testing
  • AI: Help with subject lines and content, and product recommendations (Pro plan)
  • ChatGPT and Claude integration (MCP): Create campaigns and segments from a chat window
  • Reports: See revenue and results by send (advanced reports on the Pro plan)

Omnisend pricing

Omnisend's price depends on your number of contacts and the plan you choose. The App Store lists three plans.

PlanPer monthWhat you get
FreeFreeUp to 250 contacts and 500 emails a month
StandardFrom $16Price for up to 500 contacts; 6,000 emails a month and unlimited web push
ProFrom $59Price for up to 2,500 contacts; unlimited email, advanced reports, AI product recommendations

Plan prices rise as your contacts grow. A promotion offering 30% off for the first three months of paid plans is advertised. SMS is used on the Pro plan by paying separately by volume, from $0.007 per message. Omnisend may bill you separately from your Shopify invoice. Check Omnisend's website for current amounts.

Omnisend's strengths

  • Easy-to-start pricing: A free plan, and paid plans from $16/month
  • Easy to use: Templates and drag and drop let you build sends without specialist knowledge
  • Multiple channels in one place: Email, SMS and web push in the same flow
  • Strong support: 24/7 live support even on the free plan (in English)
  • Easy to switch to: Some App Store reviews mention switching from Klaviyo to save costs

Caveats to know before using Omnisend

The dashboard and support are mainly in English

According to its App Store listing, Omnisend supports English only. You can write emails in Japanese, but expect to use the dashboard, help articles and support in English.

Prices rise as your contacts grow

Standard and Pro prices rise with your number of contacts. SMS also costs extra on the Pro plan, so if you want SMS as well as email, estimate the total.

LINE is not a built-in channel

LINE, widely used in Japanese ecommerce, is not one of Omnisend's built-in channels. To use LINE as well, you combine it with LINE integration apps or other tools through its API, webhooks or Shopify Flow.

Stores Omnisend suits

  • Stores selling mainly overseas that use email and SMS as primary channels
  • Stores that want to start email marketing at low cost
  • Stores that want to set up standard automations quickly using templates
  • Stores that want to use the same tool on ecommerce platforms other than Shopify

Summary

Omnisend makes it easy to start email and SMS marketing, with approachable pricing and a clear interface. There is a free plan, so starting with basic automations is a good way to try it.

On the other hand, the English-centered dashboard and support, prices that rise with contacts and channels, and LINE not being a built-in channel are points stores in Japan should check before adopting it.

If you also want LINE: StoreCRM as an option

For stores in Japan that want to reach customers on LINE as well as email, StoreCRM, which sends email and LINE from one dashboard, is another option. StoreCRM is a CRM app for Shopify stores in Japan, with support in Japanese.
